Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Food and Beverage, this position is responsible for providing food and beverage service to guests with an upbeat and positive attitude. The F&B General Helper plays a key support role within the Bars and Beverage operations by ensuring Bartenders, Bar locations, and Beverage Depots are fully stocked, clean, and well-maintained throughout service. This individual helps create a smooth and efficient workflow by replenishing supplies, cleaning workstations, and assisting with overall bar readiness. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and a strong team player with a keen attention to detail. Their behind-the-scenes support is essential in maintaining the high standards of service and cleanliness expected at Great Canadian Entertainment and our Food & Beverage Departments.
Key Accountabilities:
- Consistently deliver excellence in service, product presentation, and venue image
- Deliver, maintain and exceed guest service quality standards as established by F&B Department
- Provide immediate attention to all guests in a pleasant and courteous manner
- Demonstrate courtesy, commitment and professionalism at all times
- Present in full uniform at all times on duty
- Adhere to Smart Serve and Alcohol and Gaming Commission regulations
- Organize, replenish and stock bars as needed
- Follow assigned cleaning checklist
- Adhere to the company grooming and uniform standards, including being professional at all times while on duty
- Cover breaks for bar help and bartenders and assist bartenders as required (Only if needed)
- Consistently uphold and demonstrate safety rules and standards as designated by F&B Department
- Attend staff meetings / training as required to advance knowledge of menu specials, new product / promotions, guest service procedures/initiatives
- Manage product flow to ensure bars consistently deliver timely service and quality product
- Move beverage stock, inventory and equipment (following all safety regulations)
- Receive and record food and beverage merchandise
- Pick up bar orders to give to supervisors to punch in efficiently in a timely manner
- Go into service depots and make orders
- Assist with non-alcohol beverage preparations when needed in Service Depots
- Document and account for all transferred products
- Ensure timely delivery of all requisitioned products
- Deliver product for service depots (gaming outlets)
- Deliver ice to bars
- Deliver food products to Quick Service outlets
- Use all equipment for its intended purpose in a safe manner
- Cleaning and mopping floors at service depots and bar back areas when required
- Ensure outlets have cleaning materials, paper towels, soap, etc.
- Ensure kegs are turned on for service and check expiry while turning on and hooking lines for service
- Ensure pop bibs are hooked up and changed if needed
- Bring down empty bottles from bar locations at the end of the night Report to supervisor on end of shift for dismissal
- All other duties as assigned
- Foster teamwork by working harmoniously with co-workers, assisting with duties, while maintaining a high standard of guest experience
- Advise Supervisor of any occurrences which may compromise or be damaging to positive customer relations
- Advise Supervisor of any occurrences which may impede operational efficiency
- Report any special occurrences or discrepancies to Manager &/or Supervisor
- Identify and recommend opportunities for improving service or operational performance to Manager &/or Supervisor
Education and Qualification Requirements:
- Positive and personable attitude with a team player attitude
- Minimum 1 year experience in the service industry
- High-School Diploma or equivalent required
- Valid “G” Driver’s License
- Ability to read & write and basic math skills
- Responsible for obtaining and maintaining Food Handlers & Smart Serve Certification
- Responsible for obtaining and maintaining AGCO. gaming license, as required
Work Environment Considerations:
- Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables, exposure to some conflict, distress and noise.
- This role requires extended period of standing, walking, bending and may lift up to 35 lbs.
- The role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, will have non-traditional work hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.
