Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Line Cook/Prep Cook to join our dynamic culinary team at Indian Spice - Mississauga. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes in a fast-paced restaurant environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, excellent food handling skills, and a commitment to maintaining food safety standards. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AS A COOK AT A SOUTH INDIAN RESTAURANT IS MANDATORY (SHOULD KNOW HOW TO COOK DOSA AND OTHER MENU ITEMS). PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCED IN MAKING DOSAS.
Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assist in food preparation according to recipes and standards
- Cook menu items with attention to quality, presentation, and timely service
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including workstations and equipment
- Follow food safety guidelines and proper food handling procedures at all times
- Assist with meal assembly and plating for service
- Support other kitchen staff during busy periods to ensure smooth operations
- Stock and restock supplies as needed, ensuring proper storage of ingredients
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Prior experience in food service, South Indian restaurant, or kitchen environments preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods
- Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong teamwork skills and good communication abilities
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings if required
- Passion for the food industry and a desire to grow culinary skills

Pay: $17.60-$18.50 per hour
