Reporting to the General Manager, the Financial Controller is responsible for undertaking all aspects of Gemini Homes financial management. The Controller is responsible for leading and overseeing the principles of accounting to complete all aspects of Gemini Homes’ and related companies, accounting functions including: Accounts Payable, Government Remittances, Banking and Payroll. This position will analyze financial information, prepare financial reports, prepare budgets and forecasts, develop internal control policies and procedures. This individual will also practice and demonstrate Gemini Homes mission, vision and core values on a daily basis.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and direction for residential real estate and land development opportunities
- Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations including, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, government remittances, inventory accounting, banking, revenue recognition and payroll
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts and report variances
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
- Provide full analytical support for new business endeavors, including land/lot purchases and strategic counsel on major financial decisions
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Manage and comply with government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies
- Generate Performa Statements and Cash flow analysis
- Manage daily cash requirements among multiple companies and project bank accounts. Manage bank accounts and reporting
- Prepare monthly and long-term cash flow forecasts
- Prepare detailed construction project budgets and cash flows
- Prepare and coordinate monthly construction loan funding with lawyers and lenders
- Prepare documentation for and liaise with cost consultants regarding monthly construction loans
Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:
Education:
- Accounting designation CA, CMA or CPA
- Advanced degree in accounting
Experience and Skills:
- Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
- Five plus years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- Three - five years residential real estate experience with involvement in land development and purchases
- Financial experience with the residential home building industry
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Strong knowledge of finance accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including full cycle accounting principles
- Experience using Sage Accounting Software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office/Computer Literacy – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work to meet urgent and daily deadlines
- Ability to interact confidently with management, customers and employees
- Self-sufficient, professional, forward-planning skills with a clear focus on delivering enthusiastic, helpful and knowledgeable service
Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
