The North Peace Housing Foundation (NPHF) is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our team, the Maintenance Assistant reports directly to the Director of Maintenance and Capital Projects and plays an integral role in maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of our facilities. From snow removal to landscaping, this position ensures that our facilities remain safe, welcoming, and well-kept. Additionally, the Maintenance Assistant supports a skilled team of technicians with a variety of essential maintenance tasks.
Duties
- Assist Maintenance Technicians with major repairs and perform basic repairs on facilities.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on equipment and facilities to ensure optimal functionality and longevity.
- Perform snow removal, lawn maintenance, and garden care for Lodges, Senior Self-Contained apartments, and vacant Community Housing units.
- Train and provide guidance to Maintenance Summer Students during the completion of seasonal groundskeeping tasks.
- Ensure safety compliance and completion of documentation.
- Other duties as assigned
Experience and Qualifications
- Experience operating light equipment such as snow blowers, lawn mowers, and other lawn equipment will be considered an asset.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and a satisfactory driver’s abstract are required.
- Completion of a current and acceptable criminal record check for the vulnerable sector as required by the Protection for Persons in Care Act and the Accommodation Standards and Licensing Act is mandatory.
- Understanding of workplace safety and ability to work with workplace regulations and legalities – overall safety conscious individual.
Position Details
- FTE: 1.0 (8-hour shift with 1 hour unpaid meal break).
- Typically, Days (Monday thru Friday) – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. On occasion available for emergency call-out – weekends and evenings.
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Travel within the NPHF region is required, typically using a company vehicle. Occasionally, the use of a personal vehicle may be necessary
