Summary
Reporting to the Transportation Manager, this position is responsible for the dispatching of various loads, including line-haul and DSD, including the communication with drivers, customers, DC’s, plants, and external suppliers. You will work with a mix of 20+ carriers and Independent Contractors, hauling both internal and carrier assets.
Location: Etobicoke, ON.
Salary: $55,001
Shift: 1:30pm - 10:00pm (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday)- (Work hours and schedule are subject to change)
Primary Responsibilities

Coordination of the movements of finished goods and materials between plants, DC’s, depots, and 3PLs, nationally.

Prompt dispatch and monitoring of drivers; proactively addressing and communicating to key stakeholders any issue affecting deliveries.

Update various files and systems including TMS (E2Open), ELM

Generating transportation documents & distributing to respective transport drivers

Address & resolve trailer mechanical issues as needed, working with on-site or on-call mechanic for timely repairs

Collaboration with the Distribution Team for shunt movements, load ready times, daily priorities, etc.

Assist with the compliancy of trailer preventative maintenance (PM) and annual safety programs.

Flag and resolve GPS trailer issues as needed

Conduct daily trailer yard checks to reconcile trailers in yard & maintain shared trailer yard board with the Distribution Center Team

Monitoring & responding to emails in a prompt & timely manner

Responsible for ensuring all trailers are dispatched for respective shift

Escalation to leadership for any transportation related issues such as delays, breakdowns, etc.

Supporting supply chain team for inventory management of logistics equipment; ex. bread handling trays

Conduct shift handovers within the transportation team

When required, support with line haul and delivery planning

Back Up: Other Transportation Coordinators on the team
Required Experience
-
At least 2 years of experience in logistics coordination and dispatching, in a fast-paced transportation environment

Hands-on experience with Transportation Management System (TMS) is an asset (i.e., E2OpenTMS)

Must be able to work under pressure with tight deadlines with competing priorities, making decisions on the spot

Work independently with the confidence to action transportation logistical needs

Sense of urgency working in a fast-paced environment

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Professional phone etiquette and customer service skills

Strong organizational and multitasking skills

Ability to work as part of a team
