Our specialty dental practice in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is seeking a professional, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Registered Dental Hygienist who has Perio experience to join our clinical team. Position Overview
The Dental Hygienist will provide comprehensive hygiene care, support specialty procedures, and contribute to the delivery of an exceptional patient experience. The successful candidate will work closely with our specialists and clinical staff to ensure consistent, evidence-based care aligned with provincial regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
· Conduct dental hygiene assessments, including periodontal evaluations and charting
· Perform scaling, root planing, polishing, and preventive services
· Support specialty workflows (periodontics, prosthodontics)
· Provide patient education on oral health, home-care practices, and treatment recommendations
· Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with NSCDH standards
· Adhere to all infection prevention and control (IPAC) protocols
· Collaborate with dentists, specialists, and team members to ensure coordinated patient care
· Contribute to a professional, respectful, and patient-centered work environment
Qualifications (Nova Scotia Requirements)
Applicants must meet the regulatory standards set by the Nova Scotia College of Dental Hygienists (NSCDH):
· Current registration and license with NSCDH
· Graduation from a CDAC-accredited Dental Hygiene program
· Current CPR/BLS certification (Level C or equivalent)
· Proof of professional liability insurance meeting NSCDH requirements
· Authorization for Self-Initiation is an asset
· Strong communication, organizational, and patient-care skills
