VISION
The Activity Aide is part of a dedicated team of people who aim to create a vibrant living environment where people can thrive and feel at home.
ROLE AND TYPICAL DUTIES:
- The Activity Aide is focused on delivery of Recreation programs that meet and enhance the lives of our residents, including small and large groups, 1:1 visits, and special events.
- The Activity Aide will lead a variety of programs within each domain; physical, recreational, emotional/spiritual/creative, cognitive, and social and be knowledgeable about the individual recreational goals and adaptations for each resident in their care unit.
- The Activity Aide will support residents to maximize their participation in activity programs. The Activity Aide will provide input about resident’s engagement in activities and maintain attendance records on computer.
- The Activity Aide will provide direction to volunteers during activity programs and demonstrates related techniques, as required.
- The Activity Aide is responsible for set up of space and equipment for each program and cleanup of space and materials following each program.
- Communicates with residents about upcoming programs and porters’ residents to/from program areas.
- Carries out resident outings and operates the GVL vehicle as per GVL policy.
- Safekeeping of program supplies and equipment, and spaces. Reports malfunctioning equipment and supply needs to supervisor.
- Assists with activities of daily living as needed, such as on outings.
- Attends departmental meetings and education sessions. Contributes to the planning of recreation programs based on specific needs of residents on their care unit.
- Performs other related duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training and Experience:
Completion of Grade 12
Graduation from a recognized recreation program OR the equivalent combination of education, training, and two years of experience
Valid B.C. Class 4 Driver's License and Basic First Aid certificate.
Food Safe Level 1 and Serving It Right encouraged
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

-Ability to operate related equipment.
Pay: $31.64 per hour
