Assembly Team Leader
Location: Ajax, ON
Term: Contract position – 12 months
Shift: Monday – Thursday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Friday – 7:30 am to 12:30 pm
Pay Rate: $48 - $51 per hour (based on experience)
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Assembly Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects involved with managing the Assembly Department.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible to produce a quality product on time and at cost
- Improve efficiencies and maintain continuous improvement initiatives –reduce overall assembly costs by driving Standardized Work and improving Assembly Line concepts
- Improve cost of quality by reducing NCR's, Scrap, Rework and Quality Escapes (internal and external)
- Develop teamwork and improve motivation overseeing both Assembly and Assembly Support Staff (Assy Planning and Stores) personnel
- Utilize and maintain daily SQCDP Team Meetings
- Ensure all personnel receive appropriate and effective training
- Participate in the development of and adherence to budgets – operating costs, capital etc.
- Schedule and forecast work (in conjunction with the Assembly Program Planner) through the department ensuring sufficient capacity in equipment and personnel
- Liaise with internal customers/suppliers i.e. shared services: Finance, Human Resources, and Quality etc.
- Maintain compliance to Company Rules, Procedures and Collective Agreement and Employment Standards Act
- Co-ordination of Assembly and Test activities with PPM's
- Ensuring a high standard of Shop Organization, FOD Control, Housekeeping / 5S and Safety
- Resolution of technical issues in conjunction with Quality and Engineering
Qualifications:
- A University degree or College diploma in Business Administration, Operations or Engineering with a minimum of five (5) years in an Assembly environment
- Excellent organization and communication skills, must be Results Driven
- Familiarity with aerospace components, hydraulics, aerospace electronics, manufacturing processes and quality control
- Must possess problem solving skills and have the ability to be proactive and innovative in approach
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, SAP, ShopVue and detailed understanding of shop floor control systems
- Familiarity with managing/supervising in a unionized environment would be an asset
- Knowledge of ERP systems and shop floor control techniques
- Understanding of and experience working with Aerospace Quality standards
- Potential requirement to conduct shift work and support requirements outside normal working hours
