Duties & Responsibilities
- Support clients to ensure their optimum physical, social and emotional well-being.
- Provide one to one support and group support within the home and community to adults with an Acquired Brain Injury/chronic pain syndrome with activities of daily living, personal care, and rehabilitation planning.
- Support clients with their rehabilitation programs, as directed by regulated health care professionals, to help them reach their rehabilitation goals following a brain injury, work-related illness or accident, mental health diagnosis, or spinal cord injury.
- Assist in monitoring behaviors or activities that affect the safety, security, and well-being of clients and caregivers.
- Observe and report changes in the client’s health status or needs.
- Provide individualized customer service of the highest quality.
- Be respectful, courteous, and pleasant at all time.
- Communicates effectively with clients, families, staff, and management.
- Maintain high-quality, accurate documentation of observations related client’s behavioral and cognitive limitations.
- Role modeling, cueing, and prompting effective communication skills.
- Work co-operatively with team members.
- Provide services on a flexible basis including evenings and weekends.
- Receive direction from management and implement regular feedback provided.
- Participate in quality improvement and continuous growth and training activities as directed.
- Adhere to workplace policies and operational procedures.
- Maintain attendance and punctuality within designated shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Post-Secondary Graduation Diploma/University Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant from a recognized college is required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working directly with individuals with acquired brain injuries, complex physical injuries, or other rehabilitation needs.
- Strong knowledge of acquired brain injuries (ABI), motor vehicle accident (MVA)-related injuries, and rehabilitative therapy approaches.
- Proven ability to assist in implementing therapeutic interventions, manage multiple tasks, and support individuals with mental health diagnoses.
- Effective skills in behavioral management and cognitive problem-solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, and documentation abilities.
- Competency in computer use and data entry.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Consistent work performance, with demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and effective teamwork skills.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Availability to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and have reliable access to a vehicle.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $28.00-$34.00 per hour
