Summary
This position will be responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of Contract Revisions/Change Notices for existing projects and full-cost estimates for upcoming tenders, including materials and labour estimates for plumbing and HVAC piping work. The individual will also be responsible for gathering all applicable subtrade and supplier quotations necessary to generate a full cost estimate for the complete Mechanical scope of work.
Job Responsibilities
- Preparation and calculation of quotations related to contract revisions on current projects. Candidate will liaise with onsite personnel and subtrades to determine cost impacts and generate quotations for the associated revisions.
- Assist in preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work.
- Prepare materials, labour and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out a construction project according to proposals, plans, estimates and specifications.
- Study and analyze proposals received.
- Evaluate and recommend allowances for indirect costs, design unknowns, escalation and contingency.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
- Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.
- Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required.
- Participate in site visits and tender deliveries
Qualifications
· Experience in Mechanical estimating an asset
· Background with Mechanical Systems and/or construction industry
· Experience reviewing blueprints and technical drawings
· Knowledge of take-off procedures and bid preparation
· Good communication skills to work with site personnel and project managers
· Experience with Mechanical Estimation Software (Autobid / Trimble)
· Strong attention to detail, computer work and organizational skills
· Is Autonomous, methodical and process driven
