Voisin Construction Group Limited has a current opening for a full-time, contract Construction Labourer until January 2027. This position does have the possibility of becoming permanent. Permanent positions will be eligible for Healthcare benefits after successfully completing a three month probationary period.
The Construction Labourer will have many duties on job sites that help work run smoother, including cleaning and preparing sites to ensure debris is properly removed, building scaffolding and other temporary structures, operating and maintaining equipment and digging trenches.
Job Responsibilities:
· Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, and other tools as directed by management.
· Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, including erecting scaffolding, removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials, and digging trenches.
· Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement.
· Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities.
· Shovel materials to and from construction areas, including concrete, stone and dirt.
· Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
· Shovel cement and other materials into portable cement mixers; and mix, pour, and spread concrete.
· Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
· Smooth and finish freshly poured cement or concrete, using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered cement finishing tools.
· Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment, or to heat and move materials such as concrete.
· Build and position forms for pouring concrete, and dismantle forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.
· Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
· Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to management.
· Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site on a daily basis.
· Load and unload construction supplies from trucks both manually and with the use of equipment.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
Required:
· Valid driver’s license
· One or more years of experience in construction
· Ability to travel within Muskoka and surrounding area
· Ability to lift heavy equipment
· Excellent stamina
· Professional and respectful communication skills are needed to excel in this position
· Reliability and dependability are a must
Preferred:
· High school diploma or equivalent
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
