Senior / Chief Aerospace Inspector

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior / Chief Aerospace Inspector to lead and oversee all inspection activities across our aerospace operations. This role is critical to ensuring product integrity, regulatory compliance, and safety standards are met at every stage—from incoming materials to final release.
This position is ideal for a hands-on inspection leader with strong technical knowledge, a commitment to quality, and experience operating within a regulated aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection Leadership & Oversight
- Lead and oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and regulatory requirements
- Review and verify components, assemblies, and maintenance activities against approved technical data and manuals
- Approve final release of completed work and ensure all inspection documentation is accurate and complete
- Develop and continuously improve inspection procedures, standards, and best practices
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace standards and regulations (e.g., Transport Canada, FAA, AS9100)
- Monitor and audit inspection tools, equipment, and calibration records
- Investigate non-conformances and lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance on process improvements and quality initiatives
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of inspectors
- Assign and balance workloads to maintain efficient production flow
- Provide training on inspection techniques, regulatory updates, and quality standards
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Technical & Operational Support
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and QA teams
- Communicate with customers, vendors, and regulatory bodies as required
- Support tooling needs, including recommending inspection equipment and fixtures
Qualifications & Experience
- 5–8+ years of aerospace inspection experience (manufacturing, MRO, or aviation environment)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Aerospace technical data, manuals, and drawings
- Inspection methods and documentation processes
- Regulatory requirements (Transport Canada, FAA, or equivalent)
- Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools and inspection equipment
- Proven ability to identify and resolve quality issues independently
Preferred
- Diploma or degree in Aviation, Aerospace, or related field
- Experience in a lead or senior inspector capacity
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems
- CMM experience or training
- Experience with NDT methods (asset)
