We are looking for a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) who will be responsible for implementing and teaching the preschool program in a cooperative school environment.
KCNS, through staff and the active involvement of parents, provides a safe and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to develop their cognitive, social, emotional and creative capacities through play. The principal duties include ensuring the safety and physical well-being of the children, setting the curriculum, assisting the Supervisor, maintaining regular communication with parents, staff and Board of Directors while contributing to the overall effective operation of the school.
The school currently runs Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm, therefore the hours required are between 8:30-1:30pm. Extra time is also required for our annual fundraising events, occasional board and staff meetings.
We run our program September to June and we are closed statutory holidays, Christmas and March break.
Education:
- Early Childhood Education (RECE) Diploma
- Positive Criminal Record Reference Check
- Current Health Certificate, Immunization Record, Emergency First Aid & Infant/Child CPR certification
- Knowledge of the CCEYA
- Experience working with volunteers an asset
- Food handling certificate an asset
Responsibilities:
- Planning and implementing the daily program for 2-4yr old children
- Set up daily activities based on the weekly programming
- Interact with the children to provide support and care; positively reinforce behaviour and encourage interaction between children
- Maintain a nurturing relationship with each child
- Support duty day parents in the classroom
- Supervise gym time
- Assist in annual set up and take down of program
- Participate in Open Houses and Fundraising events for the school
- Assist children with daily routines including snack, toilet time, washing hands, etc.
- Provide a safe and fun learning environment for the children
- Work with the parents in the operation of the school
- Ensure procedures are being adhered to as per the ministry requirements

The centre participates in CWELCC funding. WEG & GOG are provided in addition to hourly rate posted.
Entitlement to GOG & WEG- CWELLCC funding in addition to hourly rate.
