Finan Swim School is excited to be opening our newest location at ActivityPlex in London, Ontario! For over 40 years, we have been teaching children and adults the life-saving skill of swimming in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and motivated individuals who are passionate about working with children and making a positive impact in their community.
What You'll Do
As a Swim Instructor, you will:
- Teach swimming lessons using the Finan Swim School curriculum.
- Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for every swimmer.
- Build confidence and water safety skills while helping swimmers progress through our program.
- Communicate swimmer progress and celebrate achievements with families.
- Accurately track swimmer skills and progression.
- Work closely with our leadership team to provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and teamwork.
Our Training Program
At Finan Swim School, we believe exceptional instructors are developed through exceptional training.
All new instructors are required to successfully complete our comprehensive 40-hour training program before teaching independently. This hands-on program covers:
- Our teaching philosophy and lesson curriculum
- Child development and age-appropriate instruction
- Water safety and risk management
- Classroom management and behaviour strategies
- Parent communication and customer service
- In-water teaching techniques
- Shadowing experienced instructors and practical evaluations
This training ensures every instructor delivers the same high-quality experience that families have come to expect from Finan Swim School.
Qualifications
- Passion for working with children.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, professional, and punctual.
- Comfortable working in the water and demonstrating swimming skills.
- Previous swim instruction or coaching experience is an asset but not required.
- National Lifeguard, Swim Instructor certification, and Standard First Aid/CPR are considered assets. Candidates who are working toward these certifications are encouraged to apply.
