Job Summary
Develop Smart Electrical Inc. is seeking a skilled and reliable Journeyman Electrician (309A Licensed) with solid experience in high-rise residential construction. We are currently building and converting multi-storey residential buildings (approx. 200+ apartment units and commercial spaces).
To qualify, the applicant must own a 309A Electrician license from the ESA.**
As a Journeyman, you will be responsible for executing high-quality electrical installations, ensuring compliance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), and working closely with the site foreman, other trades, and apprentices. This is a hands-on, long-term opportunity with a growing company and a strong project pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Hands-On Installation: Perform high-quality electrical rough-ins, finishing, and troubleshooting in accordance with the OESC.
- Blueprint Reading: Read, interpret, and execute work based on electrical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Apprentice Mentorship: Provide daily on-site guidance, training, and support to electrical apprentices.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment, strictly adhering to site safety standards and project requirements.
- Site Coordination: Work cooperatively with the site foreman, project managers, and other trades to ensure construction stays on schedule.
- Inspections: Ensure all work is ready for ESA inspections and assist with project close-out tasks.
Install and maintain:
- Power distribution systems and panel boards
- General lighting, emergency lighting, and lighting controls
- Life safety and fire alarm systems
- Generator and backup power systems
Requirements
- Licensing: Must hold a valid 309A Electrician’s license and ESA number.
- Industry Experience: Proven hands-on 2 years+ experience in high-rise residential or commercial construction.
- Code Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC).
- Technical Skills: Excellent ability to read electrical drawings and specifications.
- Logistics: Must own your own hand tools and hold a valid driver’s license (preferred).
Assets (Bonus)
- Experience with generator installations and transfer switches.
- Experience installing and terminating fire alarm systems.
- Experience with low-voltage or access control systems.
- Previous experience acting as a lead hand or supervising small crews.
