About The Role
We are seeking a proactive and personable Fund Accountant (ETF) to join our team as our first dedicated ETF Analyst. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Fund Accounting, this senior-level role supports the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of ETF fund accounting and related processes.
The ETF Analyst is primarily responsible for overseeing and reviewing NAV calculations, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring the integrity of fund operations. The role also includes tax reporting, audit support, and managing relationships with external service providers.
As part of SGGG’s Fund Accounting team, you will leverage your expertise in ETF and mutual fund structures while collaborating across teams and partners to deliver accurate, efficient, and scalable fund accounting processes.
Office Location & Hybrid Model
- Our office is in downtown Toronto, a 5-minute walk from Union Station.
- We embrace a flexible hybrid work model, with this team in 4 times per month.
What You’ll Do
- Review NAV calculations prepared by external fund administrators for ETFs and mutual funds, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist in validating NAVs, investigating discrepancies, and resolving pricing or accounting issues.
- Review and process creation/redemption orders, ensuring the activity is in-line with fund guidance.
- Support the preparation and review of financial statements and other regulatory reporting deliverables.
- Prepare and review audit support packages and coordinate with external auditors
- Assist with fund tax reporting, including distribution calculations, T3 reporting, and related filings.
- Support the execution of fund distributions, ensuring accurate calculations and reporting
- Monitor fund expenses, accruals, and payments to ensure proper allocation and compliance with fund documents.
- Track and analyze Management Expense Ratio (MER) components and support profitability and breakeven analysis.
- Review fund legal documents and ensure accounting processes align with fund requirements.
- Respond to internal and external stakeholder inquiries and maintain effective working relationships with service providers.
- Assist with process improvements and contribute to department initiatives and projects.
- Work to continually improve the processes associated with assigned responsibilities.
What You’ll Bring
Required
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of fund accounting and operations experience, preferably with ETFs.
- Strong understanding of NAV production, fund accounting principles, and investment fund structures.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., SUM, formulas, sorting).
- Clear and fluent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong time‑management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment on when to escalate issues.
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
Assets
- CSC or IFIC Mutual Funds Operations course
- Possess or in process of obtaining a professional designation such as CPA, CFA etc.
- Completion of all or some of the CFA, CSC or other related designations is a plus
