Role Summary
The General Labourer performs manual and equipment-assisted tasks in support of grain elevator and farm operations. Duties include grain handling, facility and yard maintenance, and operational support, while complying with all applicable health and safety legislation and company policies.
Essential Duties
- Load, unload, receive, store, and move grain commodities, including grain wagons and trucks
- Assist in grain inspection, grading, storage, and post-harvest handling
- Operate grain-handling equipment under supervision
- Perform housekeeping of grain bins, pits, equipment, vehicles, buildings, and yard areas
- Assist with routine maintenance and report equipment defects or unsafe conditions
- Maintain yard conditions including snow and ice removal, grounds maintenance, and driveway upkeep
- Communicate with supervisors and coworkers using radios and verbal instructions
Health & Safety
- Perform all duties in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario) and company safety programs
- Use personal protective equipment as required
- Take reasonable care to protect personal safety and the safety of others
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, push, pull, and work extended hours during peak periods
Work Environment
- Indoor and outdoor agricultural/industrial setting
- Exposure to dust, noise, weather extremes, and moving machinery
