Department: Hospitality – Culinary
Reports to: Hospitality General Manager
Job Type: Full-Time, Salary
ABOUT GOOD ROBOT BREWING CO.
At Good Robot, we’re building something bigger than beer.
We’re building a team that shows up for each other, takes ownership, and gets the job done.
We’re a group of people who believe in:
- Camaraderie – we show up for each other
- Ownership – no excuses, we solve the problem
- Good Times, Serious Work – we work hard and have fun doing it!
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Head Chef to lead, evolve, and grow our culinary program.
This role is hands-on when it counts, strategic when it matters, and play a key part in building our kitchen revenue, developing our menus, and shaping the guest experience at our Robie St., Taproom.
This is an opportunity to own the kitchen, elevate the food program, and grow into leading multiple venues as we expand.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead the kitchen during service — jump on the line when it counts
- Own food quality, consistency, and execution every shift
- Build and evolve menus that are creative, efficient, and sell
- Control food + labour costs — and know your numbers
- Turn kitchen performance into revenue growth
- Hire, coach, and develop a strong, accountable team
- Set the standard for culture, pace, and professionalism in the kitchen
- Keep operations tight — prep, inventory, ordering, systems
- Work closely with FOH to deliver a seamless guest experience
- Build systems that scale as we grow into multiple locations
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We care more about how you show up than just what’s on your resume:
- Accountability – you own results (cost, team, quality)
- Leadership – you build strong teams and make people better
- Problem-solving – you don’t wait, you fix
- Communication – clear. Direct, and team-first
- Work ethic – you bring energy and consistency, especially when it’s busy
You’re someone who:
- Thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy kitchen
- Can zoom out (strategy, numbers, systems) and zoom in (line, service, execution)
- Takes pride in building something – not just maintaining it
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience leading a kitchen (Head Chef, Sous Chef, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of cost control (food + labour)
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and peak seasonal periods
- Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Nice-to-have:
- Experience scaling or opening kitchens
- Background in high-volume hospitality environments
WHAT YOU’LL GET
- Be part of a growing, scrappy, high-performing team
- Real ownership over kitchen and its success
- Opportunity to grow into multi-location culinary leadership
- Work that is creative, challenging, and impactful
- A team that values accountability, camaraderie, and doing things the right way
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
This role directly impacts guest experience, team culture, and revenue growth.
When this role is done well:
- The kitchen is profitable, consistent, and efficient
- The team is engaged, developed, and accountable
- The food becomes a core part of the Good Robot guest experience
You’re not just running a kitchen – you're helping build a culinary program that scales with the business.
