Estimator & AutoCAD Draftsman/woman (Part-Time to Full-Time)
Compensation
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour (based on qualifications and experience)
Expected Hours
20 to 40 hours per week initially (fluid/dynamic schedule initially), but we want to bring you on full-time as soon as we have the workload to support that.
The Opportunity
We are a growing interior glass company looking for a reliable, self-starting professional to help anchor our office operations. In this role, you will handle drafting, estimating, and some project management for our custom glass installations, including showers, mirrors, guardrails, doors, and partitions. Other duties may be assigned as our operation grows.
This position is on-site at our Calgary office and will begin with a dynamic 20-40 hour weekly schedule, with the opportunity to transition to full-time as our project volume increases. It is an excellent ground-floor opportunity, and as our business grows your role will evolve and expand with it.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed shop and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD.
- Accurately read blueprints to complete take-offs and generate quotations.
- Order and track materials to ensure timely project delivery.
- Coordinate with field staff and installation crews, supporting them with necessary drawings and project details.
- Assist with project management and keep job information updated.
- Visit sites to do preliminary and final measures of showers, railings, mirrors, and other custom glass.
- Assess and streamline systems and procedures
Requirements
- Proficient in AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Highly organized, reliable, and able to learn quickly.
- Excellent communication skills
- Open to shifting your role as the company grows
- Self-starter who takes initiative and wants to help
- Willing to troubleshoot and figure things out
- Clean driver's abstract and a reliable vehicle.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Assets (Bonus Qualifications)
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (this could expand the scope of the role).
- Previous construction, measuring, or glazing experience or knowledge.
