LUFF Industries is currently accepting resumes for a Welding Shop Quality Inspector.
For nearly 50 years, LUFF Industries has manufactured quality conveyor components used in heavy industrial material handling applications worldwide. It has one of the most complete product lines available to increase the performance of its customers conveyor systems.
The Job:
The Welding Shop Quality Inspector is a production support position which will perform quality inspections on products and work performed in the Welding Shop.
This role will follow the documented quality work procedures (QWPs) and work collaboratively with team members to communicate any issues that have been found with non-conforming products. This is accomplished by accurately inspecting products against the established quality standards and providing feedback on what may have caused the issue and offering suggestions on how to prevent future occurrences.
Your work will include:
- Following all safety rules and procedures and maintain strong personal safety awareness.
- Perform routine inspections on finished and WIP products by using the established quality Standards and QWPs to determine accuracy and overall quality of product.
- Periodic verification of equipment calibration used for production.
- Generate and enter any required NCRs for non-conforming product that is identified during quality inspections.
- Communicate details and specifics of NCRs to department supervisors and technicians and if possible, solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Work to educate other employees on the applicable quality standards when defects are identified to help prevent recurrence of quality issues.
- Regularly work with the quality team on projects including research and development, product autopsy, quality document packages and any other projects as required.
Who We Are Looking For:
Our ideal candidate will a bring a strong combination of experience as a quality inspector or as a machinist or welder and experience performing quality detailed inspections.
This individual will display strong critical thinking skills, excellent time-management abilities and above all the ability to function effectively both independently and as part of larger Luff team. This role requires the ability to collaborate with the production team using strong and diplomatic communication skills with co-workers at all levels of the organization.
The successful individual will also bring a combination of the following education, skills, and experience:
- Ticketed as a JM Welder and/or diploma in Welding Engineering Technology.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably custom) that utilizes Welding / Machining activities. (a combination of education and experience may be accepted)
- Strong ability to use measuring tools such as micrometers, verniers, dial bore gauges, dial indicators, and gauge blocks.
- Previous experience and or training in a Quality inspector role considered an asset.
- Experience: Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards / terms or experience working in an ISO 9001 environment considered an asset.

Final starting wage for this position will be based on the successful candidate’s skills, education, and experience. Future increases will follow the employee annual performance evaluation process.
