About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Program Manager provides leadership for the Youth Addiction Stabilization Unit (YASU), Manitoba's specialized youth stabilization program supporting children and youth experiencing problematic substance use, mental health concerns, behavioural challenges, and the impacts of trauma.
Working collaboratively with Program Coordinators, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous communities, and community partners, you will strengthen and evolve the program by embedding Indigenous approaches and ways of knowing, being, and doing into service delivery while advancing quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
How You'll Make an Impact
As Program Manager, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the future of YASU. You will create the conditions where children, youth, families, and employees can thrive while strengthening one of Manitoba's most specialized youth programs.
In this role, you will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Youth Addiction Stabilization Unit.
- Build leadership capacity by coaching, mentoring, and developing Program Coordinators while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and service excellence.
- Lead the continued evolution of the program by advancing Indigenous approaches and ways of knowing, being, and doing, strengthening culturally grounded practice, and promoting quality improvement and innovation.
- Build strong relationships with children, youth, families, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous communities, Child and Family Services, healthcare providers, schools, and community partners to support coordinated, holistic, and culturally grounded services.
- Exercise responsible stewardship of the program's people, financial, and physical resources while contributing to Marymound's long-term success and strategic direction.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a collaborative, values-driven leader who brings:
- A degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, or another related human services discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience within residential care, child welfare, youth services, mental health, substance use, Indigenous services, or other complex human service environments.
- Demonstrated success leading leaders, developing teams, strengthening program quality, and managing complex operations.
- A strong understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, worldviews, and the ongoing impacts of colonization, residential schools, the Sixties Scoop, systemic racism, and intergenerational trauma.
- Knowledge of child development, mental health, substance use, trauma-informed practice, residential care, and human service leadership.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, relationship-building, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- A leadership style grounded in integrity, accountability, cultural humility, sound judgment, and continuous learning.
Other Requirements:
- Valid First Aid/CPR is required.
- Mental health/crisis training certifications including NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills) are required;
- Valid class 5I (Intermediate) driver’s license, and satisfactory driver’s abstract.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and clear Vulnerable Sector checks.
- Clear Child Abuse Registry and satisfactory Prior Contact checks.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, or willingness to learn, including participating in cultural practices, programming and ceremonies alongside youth.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software.
- Physically able to perform the duties of the job.
