Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Hand to oversee concrete construction, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, extensive knowledge of various construction disciplines, and proficiency with a wide range of tools and techniques. This role involves coordinating teams, interpreting schematics, and executing complex tasks related to concrete forming, masonry, carpentry, and more. The Lead Hand will play a pivotal role in guiding project execution from start to finish while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities on-site, ensuring project timelines and quality standards are met
- Lead and mentor team members, providing guidance on technical tasks such as rebar installation, concrete finishing, and masonry work
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently during various phases of construction projects
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to execute precise work
- Perform or oversee tasks involving hand tools, power tools, excavation, and other specialized tools
- Manage material logistics including concrete forming, renovation work, restoration projects
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment for all team members
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues related to construction processes or equipment malfunctions
- Document project progress and communicate effectively with clients and management regarding project status
Experience
Minimum 5 years prior concrete experience
Excavation experience is also a large asset
- Proven experience in construction or concrete environments with a focus on concrete forming, masonry, carpentry, or related trades
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy machinery and power tools safely
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and schematics interpretation
- Experience with restoration projects, and the use of hand tools required
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a construction setting is preferred
- Familiarity with safety protocols related to heavy lifting, scaffolding, and equipment operation
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work at heights or in confined spaces as needed
