Bugwood Coffee Main Street - Cafe Manager
Bugwood Coffee is looking to hire a Manager to join our passionate, skilled and coffee-loving team! This is a full-time position. We are looking for someone who is not only passionate about coffee but is also a motivated leader to supervise and inspire our cafe staff.
The Cafe Manager will be responsible for organizing the daily operations of the cafe. This will include scheduling shifts for baristas, covering for sick days, holiday leave, and accounting for employee breaks. Monitoring daily/ weekly/ monthly/ quarterly reporting of the POS system. Knowledge of the menu items and seasonal offerings. Inventory for the cafe in the likes of weekly, monthly, and quarterly. Using built-in systems to manage ordering inventory. The Manager will also be responsible for hiring, training new and returning staff. To motivate all staff to provide excellent drink quality and customer service in a timely manner. This person will ensure that the standard of delivery with regard to our menu items, espresso shots, and milk steaming is held to the highest standard. Product knowledge and the willingness to learn and share ideas about new products, brewing methods, as well as educating our staff on these items and methods of operating. Similarly to the products, coffee knowledge and the ability to educate, share, and detail our coffee to our staff and customers to ensure that questions from “origin to why” can be answered with confidence.
In addition, the Manager will be responsible for Bugwood Coffee’s Main Street social media accounts.
Management experience is preferred. Experience as a barista is a plus, however, training is provided.
The manager must be available to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays.
Ultimately, you will help Bugwood Coffee maintain our desired level of customer engagement, inspire staff, and help bring specialty coffee to the north while keeping Bugwood as everyone's favorite local spot.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the cafe
- Scheduling staff for daily operations, covering lunch breaks/ sick days
- Hire & train new and returning staff
- Maintain role as a barista in the cafe
- Review staff hours weekly, communicate with Office Manager
- Coordinate with food vendor
- Maintain updated records of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly inventory
- Deliver inventory to cafe with the company vehicle as needed
- Updating seasonal specials and signage
- Making seasonal syrups from in-house recipes ie. pumpkin spice syrup, gingerbread syrup etc.
- Updating and maintaining menu in POS system
- Advise staff on the best ways to resolve issues with customers
- Product knowledge surrounding coffee, brewing equipment, and other products
- Responsible for overseeing bank deposits and managing cash flow
- Collaboratively set quarterly goals for the cafe
- Operating social media accounts
- Ensure all cafe areas are kept clean and organized, and the staff are maintaining the standards
- Nurture friendly relationships with our customers
Experience & Attributes
- Business training an asset
- Previous barista and/or managerial experience an asset
- Customer service experience an asset
- Computer skills
- Knowledge of coffee
- Willingness to learn from mistakes and to grow/ enhance skills
- Ability to listen, learn, and take direction
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Confident, ability to set boundaries and manage time
Job Type: Full-time
Contract: trial period of 3 months implemented
Wage: $26-30/hr Salary - Paid holiday, Quarterly Bonus based on performance
