Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Truck Driver / Shear Operator to join our team in a multi-skilled role. This position will be responsible for delivering and picking up scrap metal bins and operating the shear to process material efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will possess a strong safety record, experience with commercial driving, and the ability to operate various types of heavy machinery. Responsibilities
- Operate truck to deliver and pick up scrap metal bins
- Secure loads properly and ensure all safety regulations are followed
- Operate the shear to process scrap metal
- Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of trucks and shear equipment to ensure proper functioning
- Assist with automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to maintain vehicle and equipment reliability
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations during operation of vehicles and machinery
- Maintain accurate logs of transportation activities, inspections, and maintenance records
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate logistics and ensure smooth workflow
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience with truck driving
- Experience operating heavy equipment (shear experience is an asset)
- Ability to operate shear equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and transportation
- Knowledge in scrap metal is an asset, but not a requirement
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
