We’re looking for a First Cook who enjoys working on the line, takes pride in quality execution, and contributes positively to a collaborative kitchen team.
About the Role
As a First Cook at The Placery, you will be a key member of our kitchen team, working hands‑on during service to prepare and plate dishes to Hyatt brand standards. You’ll support the Chef and Sous Chef in daily operations, uphold food safety and quality standards, and help ensure a smooth, consistent dining experience for every guest.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and plate menu items during service with consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Work the line efficiently while maintaining Hyatt quality and presentation standards
- Support the Chef and Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations and service execution
- Follow all FoodSafe, sanitation, and Hyatt safety standards at all times
- Maintain clean, organized workstations and back‑of‑house areas
- Assist with prep, deliveries, product rotation, and proper food storage
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and front‑of‑house teams to support smooth service
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team‑oriented kitchen culture
- Assist with inventory awareness and waste reduction efforts
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of The Placery and Hyatt Place Kelowna
What You Bring
- Previous experience working the line in a restaurant or hotel kitchen
- Solid culinary fundamentals and a passion for well‑executed comfort cuisine
- Ability to stay calm, organized, and focused in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow
- FoodSafe Level 1 (or willingness to obtain)
- A commitment to Hyatt’s purpose of care and guest service excellence

Pay: $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
