ANHBC is currently seeking an experienced childcare educator-School Age who shares ANHBC’s values to join our Kitsilano Neigbourhood House childcare team.) Kitsilano Neighbourhood houses are highly collaborative with a strong team framework. The right person for this position is passionate about community development, social justice and is values-aligned with our organization.
About You
Kitsilano Neighbourhood House is looking for enthusiastic, mature, dedicated, and effective team members to work in our Childcare Programs for children aged 5-12 years old. The successful candidate will have excellent guiding and caring skills and the ability to work in a diverse, multicultural, and energetic environment.
About the Position
Using a team approach Childcare Educator- School Age provides a developmentally appropriate Reggio inspired and inclusive quality Daycare Program for children. A Childcare Educator- OSC performs all of the following duties:
· Curriculum Design
o Ensure curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices are in place in the daycare
o Co-create programming with the staff team and children
o Use innovative methods for documentation and curriculum design such as the use of anecdotal observations, finished products, photographs, and written dialogue
o Attend meetings and workshops to develop and discuss program curriculum and work competencies
o Interact with children and staff to encourage their involvement in activities
o Have an understanding of typical developmental pathways
· Safety
o Be informed of and follow all licensing regulations and requirements
o Use positive methods of discipline that is child-centered and respectful
o Classroom monitoring
o Ensure room is clean and toys are disinfected, furniture, equipment and toys are safe for children and cleaning products or medicines are kept where children cannot get to them
· Community Culture
o Be available to connect families with community resources
o Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with other community service providers
o Establish and maintain good communications with families
o Work collaboratively with volunteers and practicum students
o May be required to work in other Kits House childcare programs to ensure continuity of care & ensure licensing regulations are met
o Perform other duties (as needed)
Skills & Qualifications:
· Experience working with children aged 5 -12 years
· 20 hours of Childcare Training (in development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition)
· Valid First Aid Certificate
· Minimum age 19 years (as per licensing regulations)
· ECEA Certification an asset
Hours:
This is a regular part-time position (30 hours, 5 days/week) 7:30am-9:30am and 2:00pm – 6:00pm plus additional hours for all VSB Pro D and early dismissals days and requires a consistent in-person presence at one of our childcare locations.
Kits House Childcare Locations:
- Kitsilano Neighbourhood House, 2305 West 7th Ave.
- The Collective Childcare Centre, 2650 Maple St.
Start Date: September 2026
Salary & Benefits: Competitive benefits package including vacation, paid sick time, group medical, pension and professional development opportunities; $20.54 - $25.25 per hour plus $6/ECE Wage Enhancement for those who qualify, depending on skills and experience level
