- Job Title: Maintenance Technician – Electrician
- Reports to: Plant Manager
- Anticipated rate: $35-40/hr
- Hours of work: 8 am - 4:30 pm
Position Summary
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Technician - Electrician is responsible for the routine, and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting of manufacturing and packaging equipment such as inspections, repairs, installations, maintain & troubleshoot electrical systems, machinery, and equipment. Ensures all work performed meets required safety codes and is properly inspected, and uses a variety of tools or equipment, such as power equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
· Carry out maintenance, diagnosis, installation of building circuits and repair of electrical, automation, and instrumentation of equipment controls.
· Diagnose and repair issues with PLCs, control panels, and electrical components to minimize downtime.
· Perform preventive and predictive electrical and mechanical maintenance to reduce downtime
· Perform routine mechanical maintenance, repair, and adjustments on packaging and processing equipment.
· Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, including conveyors and actuators
· Replace and align mechanical components such as bearings, belts, chains, shafts, and gearboxes.
· Support commissioning and upgrades of new or existing production and utility equipment
· Prepare reports, maintain records, and requisition supplies and parts.
· Ensure compliance with all electrical codes, safety standards, and food manufacturing regulations (GMP, HACCP)
· Collaborate with the maintenance andproduction teams to identify root causes of mechanical failures and recommend improvements.
· Assist in equipment setup, changeovers, and calibration to support production efficiency.
· Ensures a safe and compliant work environment while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
Qualifications
· Relevant manufacturing experience in both electrical and mechanical systems; hands on experience with troubleshooting.
· Experience with process and high-speed packaging equipment in a manufacturing setting preferred, general maintenance skills.
· Must possess the technical and analytical skills necessary to resolve process and equipment problems.
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
· Electrician license is required.
· Experience in food industry or high-speed packaging will be considered as an asset.
· Good PLC & HMI troubleshooting, programming skills is required.
· Experience in instrumentation is an asset.
· Lead hand or supervisory experience is an asset.
· Experience in MS Suite - Word, Excel, and Outlook
· Strong ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints (ACAD drawings).
