Looking to Hire:
Accounting Administrator
Powell River, BC | 30–40 hours/week
Rural Septic Services in a family owned and operated business providing septic system services in Powell River. We are looking for an Accounting Administrator to join our team. This is a hands-on role where you'll own the day-to-day accounting and payroll functions of the business while supporting other office staff and operations.
Role and Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Accounting
Full-cycle bookkeeping including bank and credit card reconciliations
Job costing — tracking costs by project to support accurate billing and profitability reporting
Accounts receivable management — invoicing, collections, and customer account follow-up
Correspondence with team to manage timing and completeness of invoicing
Accounts payable management — processing vendor invoices, scheduling payments, and maintaining supplier relationships
Cash flow monitoring — tracking inflows and outflows, flagging issues, and supporting management with regular cash position updates
Month-end and year-end preparation, working with our external accountant
Sales Tax filing and compliance
Payroll processing, remittances, and T4 preparation
WorkSafe BC reporting and premium payments
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
Office Administration
General office management and administrative support
Providing secondary support for answering phones, scheduling customers and general inquiries
Assist is developing processes and allocating responsibilities
Filing, document management, and day-to-day organization
What We're Looking For
Must Have:
Hands-on experience with small business bookkeeping, including job costing, AR/AP, payroll, sales tax (GST/PST), and WorkSafe BC
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO)
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Comfort managing cash flow and communicating financial information to ownership
Good communication skills and a willingness to pitch in where needed
Preferred, Not Required:
CPB designation or relevant post-secondary education in accounting or bookkeeping
Experience in a trades, construction, or service-based business
What We Offer
Consistent schedule with flexible commitment of 30-40 hours per week
Hourly wage of $34-$36 based on experience
