The Mission
Fitness Avenue is looking for a Shopify eCommerce Specialist who lives and breathes
the Shopify ecosystem. You aren't just "managing" a site; you are the architect of the
customer journey. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our Shopify Plus store is high-
converting, visually flawless, and operationally perfect.
If you are the person who notices a broken filter or a slow-loading image before anyone
else—and you know exactly how to fix it—we want to talk to you.
About Us
Fitness Avenue is one of Canada’s leading fitness equipment retailers, and we’re on a massive
growth trajectory. We don’t just sell weights and benches; we help people build their
dream home gyms and commercial studios. We operate at a high volume on Shopify
Plus, and our warehouse is constantly moving. If you love fitness and want to see your
work directly impact thousands of athletes across the country, you’ll fit right in.
What Success Looks Like
- High-Octane Merchandising: Our collection pages aren't just lists; they are
curated shopping experiences that drive up AOV.
- Seamless Promos: Every sale, discount, and bundle launches without a hitch.
You’ve tested the logic so the customer never sees an error.
- Platform Health: The store is fast, the apps are useful (not bloated), and the
checkout is frictionless.
- Speed to Market: New products and landing pages move from "idea" to "live"
with precision and speed.
Your Core Responsibilities
- Daily Site Ownership: Manage the day-to-day "shop floor" of our Shopify Plus
store. This includes navigation, sorting rules, search optimization, and product
tagging.
- Conversion Optimization (CRO): Run A/B tests on product pages (PDPs) and
cart flows. You’ll use data to decide if a "Buy Now" button should be green, blue,
or replaced with a "Frequently Bought Together" widget.
- Promotional Execution: Own the setup and QA of all onsite sales. You’ll build
the discount codes, set the countdown timers, and verify that the math works in
the cart.
- Product Integrity: Ensure 1,000+ SKUs look elite. This means sharp specs,
complete media, and clear cross-sells (especially for our heavy equipment vs.
small accessories).
- App & Theme Management: Audit our app stack. If an app isn’t adding value,
it’s gone. You’ll work within our theme to make UI/UX improvements that actually
move the needle.
Who You Are
- Shopify Savvy: You have 2+ years of hands-on experience in the Shopify admin
(Plus experience is a massive bonus).
- Execution-Focused: You prefer "shipping" to "meeting." You are a builder and a
fixer.
- Detail Obsessed: You don’t just "check" a link; you test it on three different
browsers and your phone.
- Data-Informed: You know your way around Google Analytics 4 and Shopify
Reports to tell us what’s working and what’s failing.
- Problem Solver: When an app breaks, you don't wait for instructions—you find
the workaround or the fix.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of hands-on Shopify experience, preferably with a high-volume eCommerce
store.
- Strong experience managing products, collections, navigation, tags, filters, metafields,
discounts, promotions, and onsite merchandising.
- Proven ability to build and implement practical eCommerce solutions inside Shopify, not
just maintain existing pages.
- Strong experience researching, evaluating, configuring, testing, and launching Shopify
apps or third-party tools.
- Basic working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Shopify Liquid, with the ability to make
minor theme and content updates without relying on a developer for every small
change.
- Strong understanding of product pages, collection pages, cart flow, checkout
experience, upsells, cross-sells, and conversion optimization.
- Experience working with large catalogues; 500+ SKUs required, 1,000+ SKUs is a
strong asset.
- Strong Google Sheets or Excel skills, including CSV imports/exports, bulk product
updates, formulas, and data cleanup.
- Experience using Shopify reports, Google Analytics 4, and conversion data to identify
issues and improvement opportunities.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Shopify apps, themes, redirects, broken layouts,
product feeds, discounts, search, filters, cart behaviour, and checkout flow.
- Strong attention to detail around pricing, promotions, product specs, images, inventory
status, variant logic, and customer-facing content.
- Ability to manage website/app projects from research and recommendation through
setup, testing, launch, documentation, and post-launch review.
NICE TO HAVE
- Shopify Plus experience.
- Experience with Shopify Markets, Shopify Flow, metafields, metaobjects, bundles,
upsells, subscriptions, or product recommendation tools.
- Experience with Klaviyo, Gorgias, Yotpo, Rebuy, Searchspring, Judge.me, or similar
eCommerce apps.
- Basic SEO knowledge, including redirects, title tags, meta descriptions, internal linking,
collection structure, image optimization, and page speed.
- Experience coordinating with developers, designers, marketing teams, product teams,
or operations teams.
- Interest in fitness, strength training, home gyms, or commercial fitness equipment.
