Journeyman HVAC Mechanic – Service

Master Mechanical Systems Ltd. has been a trusted provider of mechanical services for over a decade and is part of the Master Mechanical Group of Companies, serving Alberta since 1968. We specialize in service, retrofits, and design/build solutions across multi family high and low rise residential buildings, and commercial facilities throughout Alberta. Our reputation is built on craftsmanship, technical competence, and long-standing client relationships.
Due to increasing service demand, we are currently seeking a Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic or Sheet Metal Journeyman to join our service team.
The Role
This position is focused on field service work involving commercial and multi family HVAC/R equipment. The scope of work includes air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, rooftop units, make-up air units, fan coil units, air handling units and heat pumps.
Grocery refrigeration is not part of this role at this time.
You will work directly with customers, diagnose complex issues, and contribute to long-term, proactive service solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, service, test, repair, and maintain HVAC/R and mechanical systems, including RTUs, MUAs, AHUs, boilers, heat pumps, and chillers
- Respond to service calls and dispatches, including fault diagnosis and corrective action
- Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding system condition, required repairs, and recommendations
- Provide professional quotations and estimates for repair and service work
- Maintain service documentation using mobile tools and software
- Participate in on-call rotation
- Collaborate with the Service Operations team during site start-ups and ongoing service planning
- Maintain personal tools and equipment in safe, working condition
- Maintain company vehicle to cleanliness and maintenance standards
- Complete mandatory safety paperwork
Qualifications
- Journeyman Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic or
- Journeyman Sheet Metal Installer with HVAC Service Experience
- Proven multi family / commercial field service experience
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Good working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydronic and refrigeration systems
- Boiler experience considered an asset
- Plumbing experience considered an asset
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable working under pressure in live-service environments
- Familiarity with mobile service software and digital documentation
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract
- Willingness to travel within the Edmonton region only (no out-of-town work at this time).
