Acton Academy, founded in 2009, is a private micro-school system where our learners run the school. We guide our learners to navigate independent and collaborative challenges, learning in the success and failure of experience.

Positions
1. Pre-Elementary Educator
2. Elementary Educator (Maternity Leave)
Responsibilities
- Guide, mentor, and role model for a community of learners
- Setup, organise, and tidy a classroom space
- Develop and facilitate a learner-driven environment with: socratic discussions, synchronous learning, and experiential collaborative projects
- Monitor, assess, document, and analyse learner progress, including attendance, academic, and behavioral records
- Foster rapport with families and communicate regularly on learner progression and growth
- Supervise and observe learners navigating their environment to identify relevant tools, concepts, and topics
- Collaborate in a tight-knit team for a small community of families
- Participate in ongoing professional development and 360 feedback processes
Qualifications and experience
- OCT certified preferred, or at minimum, a bachelor of Education or equivalent
- Experience supporting young people between the ages of 3 and 11, such as in teaching, coaching, camp counseling, early childhood education, educational assistance, or relevant post-secondary education
- A background and/or education in Montessori
- A background in Alternative education an asset
- Experience in small business and/or business ventures an asset
- Proficiency in French an asset (or another second language)
- Acton Academy training an asset (or required in your first year)
- Vulnerable Sector Check and CPR C First Aid required
