The Whole School, operated by the West Kootenay Educational Resource Society in beautiful Winlaw, BC, is seeking a passionate, creative, and adventurous teacher for the 2026–2027 school year.

Exciting New Outdoor Leadership & Conservation Program
The Whole School is launching a dynamic Outdoor Leadership Program focused on conservation, environmental stewardship, and hands-on learning experiences. Students will participate in projects such as:
- Forestry and ecosystem restoration
- Waterway and community clean-up initiatives
- Native plant and pollinator projects
- Land stewardship and conservation education
- Partnerships with environmental organizations and local experts
- Learning opportunities with Indigenous knowledge keepers and community leaders
This program is designed to empower students through leadership, environmental responsibility, teamwork, and real-world learning experiences that connect deeply to the land and community.
Professional Development & Training Opportunities
Training and mentorship opportunities provided throughout the school year may include:

- Restorative Justice Practices
- Attachment Theory
- Trauma-informed education
- Educational leadership and community-building skills
Qualifications
- Current BC Teaching Certificate required
- Experience or interest in outdoor education, experiential learning, and multi-age classrooms considered an asset
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Passion for child-centered, relationship-based education
Compensation
Salary range is $59,422 to $68,130 per full-time equivalent, with placement based on qualifications and experience.
