Weldco-Beales is currently recruiting a Heavy Duty Mechanic/Journeyman Mechanic for the Edmonton manufacturing team. This position will report to the General Foreman.

Who Are You?
The Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic works under general supervision of the Service & Assembly Shop Foreman in the Hydralift Shop. As a skilled tradesman, the incumbent will provide quality customer service, maintain, repair and service heavy equipment, mobile cranes and vehicles and promote and adhere to workplace safety. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will provide high quality workmanship in a timely manner and ensure full satisfaction to the Customers.
What you will do?
1. Workplace Safety
- Practices safety in the work place at all times to ensure he or she does not endanger oneself or others in the plant
- Complies with all safety rules and practices as set by Occupational Health and Safety, WBM and any and all other relevant safety regulations and requirements
2. Customer Service
- Provides quality customer service to internal clients by responding to requests in a prompt and expeditious manner, and by producing quality service workmanship
3. Mechanical Repair and Servicing
- Interprets work orders and technical manual
- Checks heavy equipment, mobile cranes, and other heavy construction, logging and mining equipment for proper performance
- Inspects equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
- Diagnoses faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
- Adjusts equipment and repairing or replacing defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
- Tests repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications and legislated regulations
- Cleans, lubricates and performs other routine maintenance work on equipment
- Performs repair work on heavy trucks if necessary
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair existing hydraulic systems
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems
4. Assemble, Install and Commission new Hydraulic Systems
- Assemble hydraulic cranes according to engineered drawings and specifications.
- Install hydraulic components, including pumps, valves and cylinders.
- Perform mechanical fitting of crane structures, booms and outriggers.
- Mount and align cranes onto truck chassis.
- Test all crane functions after installation for safety and performance.
5.Other Duties
- Performs other duties in other departments as required, working overtime as required.
Your qualifications:
Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Education
- High school completion required
- Alberta Journeyman Ticket in Heavy Duty Mechanic or Red Seal Certification
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of directly related experience
- Previous experience with heavy equipment is an asset
- Previous experience with mobile cranes is an asset
Knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of all safety practices
- Good knowledge of all heavy equipment and power tools and their use and care
Skills
- Communication skills to read, listen, write and speak in a clear and concise manner to individuals at various levels
- Interpersonal skills work collaboratively and cooperatively with others
- Time management skills to productively complete work and meet all expected deadlines
- Organizational skills to plan out and coordinate his or her work in a logical manner
