Position Overview
Sun Shade Co. is looking for a Fabricator Assistant / Shop Helper to support our fabrication team with day-to-day shop operations and production work.
This is not just a “sweep the floors and move material” position.
We’re looking for someone who wants to learn, work hard, and become a valuable part of a growing fabrication shop. The right person will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside skilled fabricators and welders while learning how custom metal products are built from start to finish.
More importantly, we’re looking for the right person.
We want someone dependable, motivated, organized, and willing to take initiative. Someone who notices what needs to be done without constantly being told. If you take pride in your work, want to learn new skills, and enjoy working with your hands, this could be a great fit.
You’ll be helping with all aspects of shop operations including assisting fabricators, preparing and finishing parts, organizing materials, loading and unloading product, maintaining a clean and efficient workspace, and supporting production wherever needed. Some days will involve physical labor and repetitive tasks. Other days will involve learning new equipment, helping solve problems, and improving workflow around the shop.
Required Qualifications
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Reliable transportation
Good attitude and ability to work well with a team
Ability to lift 50 lb (23 kg) and work on your feet throughout the day
Comfortable working in a fabrication/shop environment
Ability to follow instructions and work safely
Punctual, dependable, and self-motivated
Preferred
Experience working in a fabrication shop, construction, manufacturing, or trades environment
Experience using grinders, drills, saws, or basic power tools
Forklift experience
Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
Interest in welding or fabrication as a career
Important
This position is not a fit for someone who avoids physical work, struggles showing up consistently, or needs constant supervision.
