Purchasing Coordinator
Position Summary
The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement of materials, packaging, supplies, and services required to support cannabis cultivation, processing, packaging, and distribution activities.
This role reports directly to the Controller and works closely with Production, Finance, Quality Assurance, and Inventory teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels, control costs, and support compliance with Health Canada regulations and Good Production Practices (GPP).
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supply Chain
- Source and purchase packaging materials, cultivation inputs, office supplies, and operational consumables.
- Maintain relationships with approved vendors and negotiate pricing, lead times, and service levels.
- Generate and issue purchase orders.
- Monitor supplier performance, pricing changes, and market conditions.
- Track deliveries and proactively resolve supply chain disruptions.
- Obtain competitive quotes for new purchases and capital equipment.
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock according to established minimum and maximum levels.
- Coordinate with production and packaging teams to forecast material requirements.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory reconciliations.
- Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or excess inventory and recommend actions.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company SOPs and Health Canada requirements.
- Maintain supplier documentation, specifications, and approved vendor lists.
- Support Quality Assurance with supplier qualification and audits.
- Maintain complete and accurate purchasing records.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process efficiencies.
- Assist in implementing purchasing and inventory management systems.
- Prepare purchasing and inventory reports for management review.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of purchasing, inventory, procurement, or supply chain experience.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems (Sage 50 experience is an asset).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and vendor management abilities.
Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
