This is elementary food service work involving the preparation and selling of short order food and beverage items in a recreation facility. Duties also include cash handling, some minor custodial work as it pertains to the food service area and equipment and may dispense liquor and beer in licensed areas. Work is performed under genera supervision and is evaluated by supervisor in terms of food quality, efficiency, customer service and conformance to established practices.
Some of the key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Prepares and sells how and cold food items and beverages such as burgers, hot dogs, French fries, sandwiches, prepackaged items, coffee and hot chocolate.
- Represents the department and the City in a positive, professional and customer friendly manner.
- Receives payment in the form of cash, credit and debit card transactions; balances cash against sales; stocks shelves and maintains product levels, reports any discrepancies to a superior.
- May dispense liquor and been and checks identification for detection of minors requesting service.
- Maintains a variety of routine records and reports.
- Cleans and maintains equipment, work and customer areas in conformance with established hygiene standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate for this position will have:
- Completion of Grade 11 and some experience in the preparation of short order food items and cash handling; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
- Serving it Right Certificate
