Job Title: Barista

Job Type: Part-time - must be available weekends
Overview
We are seeking a passionate and versatile individual to join our team as a Barista (with basic baking sales preferred). This dual-role position is perfect for someone who loves coffee and and has knowledge on basic bakery products. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences at the front of the house (FOH) while assisting with certain bakery operations in the back of the house (BOH).
As a Barista
- Prepare and serve coffee, espresso, tea, and specialty beverages with precision and artistry.
- Take customer orders and process payments efficiently using a POS system.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including espresso machines, grinders, and equipment.
- Serve baked goods, sandwiches, and other menu items, ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Engage with customers to build relationships and provide exceptional service** THIS IS KEY
- Clean FOH areas, including vacuuming, mopping, cleaning sinks, bathrooms, and displays.
- Assist with restocking and inventory management for FOH items.
As a Junior Baker
- Assist in the preparation of cake boxes, tiramisu, cookies, and pastries for display.
- Support the BOH with dishwashing, cleaning, and other immediate tasks when low time.
- Monitor ingredient stock levels and communicate shortages to management.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Scale recipes accurately for production needs.
- Collaborate with senior bakers to create visually appealing desserts.
Qualifications
- Barista Experience: At least 1 year of barista experience in a fast-paced cafe environment or willingness to learn is required
- Baking Knowledge: Previous experience in a bakery would be preferred
- Strong understanding of coffee preparation techniques (manual espresso machine)
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, both independently and within a team.
- Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evening shifts.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
