Oak Hill Ranch is an accredited campus-based treatment facility with a designation in Intensive Treatment. With the support of Children and Family Services, family and other healthy support networks, we strive to create a therapeutic environment that assists in the young person’s growth and development. We offer services to youth between the ages of 9-16 years who present various behavioral and emotional challenges. Oak Hill Ranch is located ½ mile south of the town of Bon Accord (20 min. N of Edmonton).
Qualifications and Professional Experience REQUIRED:
· Only applicants with the following qualifications will be considered.
· 3-5 years of experience working with high-risk youth in out-of-home placements.
· Diploma or Degree: Registered Social Worker or Certified Child and Youth Care Worker with CYCAA.
· Valid class 5 driver’s license.
· Clean Police Security Clearance, Clean Intervention Record Check and a Clean Driver’s Abstract are conditions of employment and the financial responsibility of the candidate.
Schedule:
· This position is full-time permanent with a salary range of $63,000.00-$65,000.00 per year. Child and Youth Care Workers work on a rotational schedule of 3-day shifts (6:45am-3pm), 3-evening shifts (2:45pm-11pm) and 3 days off.
· This position is for Child and Youth Care workers with 3-5 years of experience and who are a Registered Social Worker or Certified Child and Youth Care Worker with CYCAA.
Key Responsibilities:
· Observes, assesses and documents significant behaviors in activity logs and reports.
· Creates and designs age appropriate, daily living activities as a forum for therapeutic and educational interventions.
· Teaches and assists young people in acquiring age-appropriate life skills
· Advocates and actively builds trust and rapport with young people (and family) through interactive play, activities, and personal interactions.
· Provides counselling opportunities for young people focusing upon their needs and problems.
· Intervenes in crisis situation with young people, utilizing non abusive restraint practices as necessary.
· Maintains a therapeutic approach to behavior management and explains behavioral expectations and consequences to young people.
Qualifications and Professional Experience AS AN ASSET:
· Experience & knowledge in First Nations culture is an asset for all positions.
· Standard 1st Aid (level C), ASIST Suicide Certificate(s) are an asset; however, courses are offered after commencement.
