Duties
- Safely operate shunting trucks and heavy equipment to move freight around the yard and loading areas
- Coordinate the precise positioning of trailers and containers to designated locations within the facility
- Conduct routine inspections of forklifts and other heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance
- Assist with loading and unloading freight using forklifts or other heavy machinery, ensuring proper handling of cargo
- Maintain accurate documentation of freight movements, trailer locations, and equipment usage
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting on vehicles and equipment as needed
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to operational procedures
- Should have forklift experience, may require to operate forklift
- May require to do deliveries occasionally
Skills
- Proven experience operating forklifts, commercial trucks, and heavy machinery in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of freight handling, trailer coupling/uncoupling, and yard management processes
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs and troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation and transportation standards
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting issues promptly
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent certification preferred
- Prior experience with freight logistics or warehouse operations is advantageous
