Job Summary
Just Rent Property Management Inc. is a growing St. John’s property management company, backed by an established sister real estate team and a steady referral pipeline. We manage 50+ residential properties — long-term rentals and short-term/Airbnb stays — and we’re scaling fast. We’re seeking an energetic, people-loving Residential Property Manager to oversee the rental and resident side of the portfolio and deliver an exceptional experience to tenants and owners alike. This role is made for a natural people person who takes ownership of everything they touch — a “mother hen” who looks after their tenants, landlords, and properties like their own and lets nothing slip. It’s a hands-on, out-of-the-office role, and you won’t carry the admin alone: an Admin Property Manager works alongside you on the back end, handling much of the paperwork so you can put your energy into people and properties.
Duties
- Oversee day-to-day operations for the rental portfolio, including leasing, rent collection, and maintenance coordination
- Market and advertise available units, take listing photos and video tours, and run showings
- Qualify and screen applicants; draft, negotiate, enforce, and renew leases and related contracts
- Serve as the point of contact for tenants and landlords — respond quickly, resolve issues promptly, and keep both sides informed
- Complete move-in/move-out and routine inspections, and report findings to landlords
- Educate tenants and landlords on the Residential Tenancies Act and proper use of the property
- Manage rent collection, dues and penalties, and pay property expenses and taxes on owners’ behalf as needed
- Oversee owner records, statements, and communications — accurate and on time, with support from our Admin Property Manager
- Flag maintenance and cleaning needs to the Maintenance Manager and follow through to resolution
- Coordinate coverage with teammates for vacations and time off
Experience
- A natural people person — you love meeting and talking with people, and you put frustrated ones at ease
- A “mother hen” who takes ownership — you look after your tenants, landlords, and properties like your own and stay on top of every last detail
- At least 3 years in property management, housing, hospitality, or a related field
- At least 2 years in a client-facing or customer-service role, ideally with sales or negotiation
- Highly organized and detail-oriented; you work from a system and don’t let things slip through the cracks
- Calm under pressure and able to prioritize when several things are urgent at once
- Strong understanding of leases and contracts, with the ability to draft and enforce them
- Proficient with DoorLoop or similar property management software; computer- and smartphone-literate
- Valid Newfoundland driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract, and your own reliable vehicle
- Post-secondary education preferred; fluency in more than one language is an asset
