- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Current CPR – HCP (Health Care Provider)
- Demonstrated knowledge of College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the CNO.
- Basic knowledge of psychopharmacological interventions and psychiatric disorders within an adolescent population is preferred.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacological interventions and psychiatric disorders within an adolescent population.
- Experience with adolescent assessment and treatment modalities.
- Experience in Eating Disorders is an asset.
- Experience in crisis and suicide intervention.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills.
- Evidence of strong professional boundaries.
- Demonstrated working knowledge/experience with computers.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within an inter-professional team environment.
- Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and critical hiking abilities.
- Knowledge, experience, and skills in participating in community integration activities with adolescents with psychiatric illness.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in such roles as charge nurse, group co-facilitation, and preceptorship.
- Ability to provide health teaching to parents/families.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
- Proven good attendance record with the capability of maintaining this same standard.
- Must be able work shifts.
- CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing is considered an asset. It is highly encouraged that staff complete the CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing within five years of hire date.
- The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language is an asset.
