Position Summary:
Risk Control Canada Inc. is seeking a highly capable and dependable Security Operations Control Centre (SOCC) Operator to join our Protective Services team at a remote mine site in Nunavut. The SOCC Operator is the communications and coordination hub for site-wide security, safety, and emergency operations. This role involves managing incident reporting, monitoring security and life safety systems, coordinating emergency responses, and supporting field teams through radio and dispatch.
This is a fly-in/fly-out position based on a 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotation, working 12-hour night shifts while on site. Meals, accommodations, and travel are provided. Please note that flights are only based out of Edmonton, AB. Dayrates (based on a 12 hour day) for an Independent Contractor would be between $340-425, depending on experience. Hourly rates for an employee would be $23.00-28.00.
Preference is to hire as an Independent Contractor but open to negotiations for hiring as an Employee.
Key Responsibilities:
Emergency and Security Communications
- Monitor and manage all incoming calls to the Emergency Control Centre, including security, medical, fire, and operational emergencies
- Coordinate response efforts and notify appropriate emergency responders per established site protocols
- Maintain continuous radio communication with patrol teams, medics, and other site responders
- Act as the primary point of contact during emergency incidents, including incident logging, escalation, and communication to site leadership
Monitoring and Systems Oversight
- Monitor CCTV systems, intrusion alarms, access control, fire panels, and other life safety systems
- Respond to system alerts and alarms in real-time and dispatch resources accordingly
- Log and document all critical activities in accordance with reporting protocols
- Oversight of access control systems, ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed site access
- Supervision of ID and badging processes, including issuing and revoking credentials as needed
- Regular review and monitoring of CCTV footage for anomalies, risks, and post-incident analysis
Incident Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional records of all incidents, shift activities, and response actions
- Support investigations by preparing detailed incident summaries and assisting with evidence retention
- Ensure reports meet company standards and client expectations
- Logging of security patrols, shift activities, and incident responses for all on-site security personnel
Administrative and Operational Support
- Support visitor and contractor access control procedures
- Maintain awareness of personnel on site (e.g., using people-on-site logs or tracking systems)
- Conduct regular system checks and shift change handovers to ensure continuity of operations
- Compilation and reporting of security statistics and trends to site security superintendent
