We are looking for an experienced and motivated Machinist to join our growing team in Edmonton.
Position Summary
The Machinist is responsible for machining and refurbishing valve components to precise tolerances, supporting the repair and alteration of industrial valves. The successful candidate will safely operate manual machine tools and work closely with valve technicians to ensure all components meet customer and manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and other shop equipment.
- Machine and refurbish valve bodies, bonnets, stems, discs, seats, and other valve components.
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and other measuring instruments.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
- Manufacture replacement components when required.
- Repair damaged valve components by machining to approved tolerances.
- Maintain dimensional accuracy and quality throughout the machining process.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications.
- Work closely with valve technicians and supervisors to prioritize repairs.
- Maintain equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Follow all company safety policies and quality procedures.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives within the machine shop.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Machinist certification is preferred; equivalent machining experience will also be considered.
- Experience operating manual machine tools is required.
- CNC experience is considered an asset but is not required.
- Experience machining industrial valve components is an asset.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tolerances, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in an industrial machine shop environment.
- Ability to safely operate machine tools, lifting equipment, and overhead
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
