SMT Operator in partnership with a leading electronics manufacturing organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled manufacturing professional with SMT experience who is passionate about quality, precision, and working with advanced production equipment.
In this role, you will be responsible for operating and supporting Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production lines, ensuring products meet quality standards, IPC requirements, and customer specifications while maintaining efficient and safe production processes.

Responsibilities:
SMT Production Operations
- Set up and operate SMT production lines, machines, and feeders.
- Perform machine changeovers and feeder setup to support production requirements.
- Verify board assemblies prior to reflow.
- Ensure components are installed according to Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly documentation, and View Station requirements.
- Perform parts taping and reeling activities when required.
- Monitor production processes and ensure continuous product quality throughout manufacturing.
Quality & Inspection
- Ensure workmanship meets IPC-610 standards and customer requirements.
- Conduct and verify complete first-off inspections before authorizing production runs.
- Identify assembly defects, process issues, or non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are completed before production continues.
- Stop production and escalate issues when quality concerns arise.
- Collaborate with SMT Technicians, Quality Control, and Supervisors to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Maintain quality standards and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Equipment, Inventory & Documentation
- Perform daily maintenance checks on SMT equipment and verify processes are completed according to documented procedures.
- Ensure accurate product scanning and traceability using Tecnomatix and View Station systems .
- Report scanning or tracking issues to the SMT Supervisor immediately.
- Support inventory management and material handling activities.
- Maintain production records and complete required system transactions accurately.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Handle and store materials, boards, and components according to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow company safety policies, procedures, and manufacturing standards.
- Assist other production areas as required and perform additional duties assigned by management.
- Be prepared to perform physically demanding tasks, including the lifting of materials and equipment when necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Certificate or Diploma in Electronics, Electronics Manufacturing, or a related technical program is considered an asset.

Enrollment in a technical training program is considered an asset.

Minimum of 2 years of experience operating SMT production lines.

Experience in electronics manufacturing environments is required.

Experience working with automated SMT equipment and processes.
