Experienced Kennel Attendant / Animal Care Professional
Blackpaws Pet Resort is seeking a confident, dependable animal care professional to join our team.
This is not an entry-level “play with puppies all day” position.
Our team cares for large groups of dogs in a busy, fast-paced environment where safety, observation skills, independence and sound judgement are essential.
The successful applicant will be someone who enjoys physical work, can remain calm under pressure, works well independently, and is comfortable making decisions without constant supervision.
Responsibilities
- Supervising smaller groups of dogs
- Monitoring dog behaviour and interactions
- Cleaning kennels and facility areas
- Administering medications
- Feeding and daily care routines
- Client communication
- Identifying health concerns or behavioural changes
- Maintaining a safe and organized environment
This Position Is Ideal For Someone Who:
- Has previous kennel, daycare, boarding or animal care experience
- Is physically active and capable of being on their feet for long periods
- Is comfortable working independently
- Can remain calm during stressful situations and fast paced environment
- Has excellent attendance and reliability
- Is confident handling difficult situations and making decisions
- Enjoys structure, routine and responsibility
This Position Is NOT Ideal For Someone Who:
- Becomes overwhelmed in fast-paced environments
- Requires constant direction or supervision
- Is uncomfortable or anxious when socializing dogs in groups or in stressful situations
- Is looking for a casual position centered primarily around animal affection
- Has difficulty working independently
Requirements
- Minimum 19 years of age
- Reliable transportation
- valid drivers license
- Weekend and holiday availability
- Previous animal care experience strongly preferred
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
