Position Title: Physiotherapy Assistant (Permanent Part-Time)
Location: Yarmouth Heights
The PTA will:
Collaborate closely with the Physiotherapist to ensure physiotherapy programs are delivered as prescribed, adjusting activities when residents show changes in mobility, energy, or comfort, under the direction of the Physiotherapist.
- Support reassessment of residents after falls, hospital transfers, or acute illnesses to ensure physiotherapy programs remain safe and effective.
- Adjust walking or mobility programs when residents show changes in function, consulting with the Physiotherapist as needed.
- Assist and implement therapy programs that would allow residents to realize their maximum potential.
- The PTA will work in relation to residents’ care issues and care plans that pertain to Occupational/ Physiotherapy Program.
- Working with the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist, the PTA will fully support and assist the Therapeutic Services at Yarmouth Heights.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of Occupational and/or Physiotherapy Assistant course with certificate.
- Minimum 2 years previous experience.
- Previous experience in long term care an asset.
- A commitment to resident centered care.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Alzheimer Disease and related Dementia, CPR and First Aid courses would be assets.
- Competency using computers including internet, email and Microsoft office.
- Regular attendance in current and previous employment.
Schedule:
- 4 and 8 hour shifts, evenings and weekends as needed.
