Job Overview
Vins Plastics Ltd. is growing and looking for progressive individuals to join our team in a general labour capacity supporting an assigned production department. This is considered an entry level position starting as a Machine Helper with opportunities for future growth into machine operator and/or other roles within the facility.
Hours of Work:
Rotating 8 hour shift every 2 weeks from Monday to Friday (Days, Afternoon, Nights) with weekends off. Note that Night shift rotation is typically scheduled as 4, 10 hour shifts per workweek for most departments.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Operators in all aspects of the production and packaging process.
- Assist in the set-up of flexible packaging equipment in accordance with product specifications and machine tolerances.
- Read, understand, and follow production dockets closely that outline product composition and operation.
- Support running the machines efficiently while maintaining quality.
- Knowledge of production schedules and deadlines.
- Comply with good housekeeping standards and procedures to follow GMPs and HACCP procedures.
- Work in accordance with all Health and Safety policies and established rules of the Company.
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Experience
- Previous general labour expierience in an industrial setting preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude is a strong asset.
- Ability to safely handle chemicals and materials used in the production process.
- Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintains regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborates well with others, proactively contributes to group objectives and volunteers to help team members when needed.
Required Education
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
Physical Requirements
- Lifting and carrying of up to 50lbs
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout shift.
- Manual dexterity – use hands to handle, control or feel objects and tools.
- Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, reaching, stairclimbing as needed for extended periods of time.
Working Conditions
- Working in a large manufacturing facility, with forklifts and large equipment moving around. Noise up to 80dB.
- Requires PPE, such as hairnets, steel toe footwear, and others as needed.
