Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Farm Supervisor to oversee daily farm operations, ensuring efficient management of crops, equipment, and staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of farm machinery and horticulture, and the ability to maintain a safe and productive work environment. This role is vital in supporting the growth and sustainability of our farm operations through effective supervision and hands-on involvement.
Duties
- Supervise daily farm activities, including planting, harvesting, and maintenance tasks
- Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment, power tools, and farm machinery to ensure proper functioning and safety
- Maintain irrigation systems to optimize water distribution for crops
- Conduct routine repairs and maintenance on equipment and infrastructure using hand tools and power tools
- Monitor crop health and implement horticultural practices to promote healthy growth
- Train and guide farm staff on safety procedures, equipment operation, and best practices
- Manage inventory of supplies, tools, and materials needed for farm operations
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations
- Perform heavy lifting as required for loading/unloading supplies or moving materials
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and repairing farm machinery and equipment
- Experience with irrigation systems management
- Strong understanding of horticulture principles and crop management
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance techniques
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and record keeping
- Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks
- Leadership skills to supervise staff effectively
- Excellent organizational skills to coordinate daily activities and maintenance schedules
Preferred Qualifications (Assets)
The following qualifications are considered assets but are not mandatory:
- Previous experience managing or assisting with farm, garden, or agricultural projects
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and operation of small farm equipment and tools
- Experience coordinating other employees
- Valid Class 7N driver’s license or higher
Additional Information
- Language Requirement: English (Punjabi, not required but an asset)
- Compensation: $21.00 per hour
