The Grain Buyer will be responsible for the procurement and storage of the grain products assigned. This position will be responsible for the overall development of the relationships with producers/sellers including the following:
1. Grow existing business base and build relationships directly with farmers and develop new partnerships
2. Responsible for negotiating and buying grain such as chickpeas, lentils and other specialty crops to continually increase market share.
3. Establish and maintain customer relationships with farmers, brokers as well as toll processors.
4. Keeps daily records on kinds grades of grain received, prices paid, amount purchased and amount in storage.
5. Purchase correct grades of grains for domestic contracts and exports.
6. Ensure delivery of products on time, to the stipulated destination.
7. Send out daily reports to management of all offers and bids.
8. Sends out weekly crop progress and harvest reports as well as market trends.

1. Degree in Ag-Business or other formal training preferred.
2. Minimum 2 years of experience working within the grain industry.
3. Proven track record for building strong farmer and grain elevators relations.
4. Proficiency with grain purchasing and contract management required.
5. Proficient computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a team player and able to work efficiently in a dynamic fast-paced, work environment.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills while maintaining high quality customer-service orientation.
8. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail including ability to balance multiple priorities.
9. Ability to travel in Canada and abroad to visit farming operations and grain elevators.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
