Piping Designer
Our client is looking for a Piping Designer. This is a 1-year contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Applies 3D equipment and piping modeling techniques and design practices to prepare portions of the 3D CAD design model under the supervision of experienced designers
- Participates in formal and informal client model reviews including the recording and closure of model review comments within their area of responsibility
- Prepares bulk material quantity takeoffs and supports material estimates applicable to the discipline
- Works with designers in other disciplines in the overall assignment to coordinate designs
- Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and quality
- Communicates with client representatives, technical specialists, inter-discipline design team members and supervisors to obtain technical information as required
- Ensures compliance with approved design standards in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design
Qualifications:
- Completion of a two-year college program in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or three-to-four-year apprentice program in a related field
- 5 + years experience as a Piping Designer within the Oil and Gas sector
- A sound knowledge and experience modeling equipment and piping in 3D CAD applications, specifically SmartPlant 3D (S3D)
- Able to make basic day-to-day decisions which may involve planning and are well defined by project requirements
- Able to confidently communicate with client representatives, other discipline designers, technical specialists and supervising designers to obtain technical information as required
- An understanding of ASME and other Engineering codes, Environmental regulation, Local and National Codes and Regulations
- Ability to multitask and work under less supervision
- Team player and willing to receive and provide direction
Pay: $50.00-$70.00 per hour
Experience:
- oil and gas Piping design: 5 years (required)
- SmartPlant 3D: 2 years (required)
